– 1 cup (240 ml) warm water
– 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 3 cups (approximately 375 g) all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon kosher salt
– 6 tablespoons unsalted softened butter (divided)
– 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar (divided)
– 4 tablespoons orange zest
– 6 tablespoons sliced almonds (divided)
– 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg (divided)
– 5 tablespoons melted butter (divided) for preparing the pans
– 2 cups (240 g) sifted confectioners sugar for the glaze
– 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh orange juice for the glaze
– 2 tablespoons orange zest for the glaze
– Sliced almonds for decoration
Instructions
1-Mix the warm water, instant yeast, honey, and olive oil in a bowl until combined.
2-Add the all-purpose flour and kosher salt, then knead the dough until itβs smooth and elastic, which takes a few minutes by hand or with a mixer.
3-Let the dough rise in a warm spot for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
4-Divide the dough into portions and roll each into rectangles on a floured surface.
5-Spread softened butter over the rectangles, then sprinkle with sugar, orange zest, sliced almonds, and nutmeg thatβs been mixed together.
6-Roll the dough into logs, cut into individual rolls, and place them in pans greased with melted butter.
7-Let the rolls rise again for another 45 minutes, then bake in a 350Β°F (175Β°C) oven for 15 to 30 minutes until theyβre golden brown.
8-Once cooled, drizzle with the glaze made from sifted confectioners sugar, fresh orange juice, and orange zest, and decorate with sliced almonds.
