Ingredients
– 4 thick slices of whole grain bread
– 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
– 4 slices crisp cooked bacon
– 12 thin slices of brie cheese (about one third of a whole wheel for two sandwiches)
– Fresh cracked black pepper (quantity to taste, sprinkled generously)
– 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
– Smoked or regular coarse sea salt (quantity to taste, sprinkled lightly)
Instructions
Step 1: Get Your Ingredients Ready First, cook the bacon until it’s nice and crisp, then set it aside to drain. This step, as noted in a popular article about slow-cooked favorites, helps lock in that smoky flavor without excess grease.
1: Place a griddle pan over medium heat.
2: Spread one side of each slice of bread with the softened butter.
3: Flip the slices so the buttered side is down on a cutting board.
4: On two of the slices, layer three thin slices of brie cheese each.
5: Top with two slices of crispy bacon per sandwich.
6: Add three more slices of brie cheese on top of the bacon.
7: Sprinkle generously with fresh cracked black pepper.
8: Cover with the remaining two slices of bread, buttered side up.
9: Grill the sandwiches on the griddle pan until the brie melts and the bread turns golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden.
10: Remove the sandwiches from the pan.
11: Drizzle lightly with 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup and sprinkle with smoked or regular coarse sea salt.
12: Slice each sandwich in half and serve warm.
