  • Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

– one 15.5-oz package Oreos (about 36 cookies) โ€“ crushed into fine crumbs to form the realistic dirt layer

– 8 oz softened cream cheese โ€“ creates a smooth, tangy base for the filling

– 1/4 cup butter (softened) โ€“ adds richness and helps bind the cream cheese mixture

– 1 cup powdered sugar โ€“ sweetens the filling without grittiness

– 2 boxes (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix โ€“ forms the thick, chocolatey mud core

– 3 cups cold milk โ€“ activates the pudding for perfect consistency

– 12 oz whipped topping (thawed) โ€“ lightens the filling for airy texture

– 1 package gummy worms โ€“ buried on top for playful garden effect

– Easter toppers like pastel candies, Peeps, or pastel M&Ms โ€“ add colorful holiday cheer

– Shredded coconut dyed green (optional) โ€“ mimics grass around the worms

– A few drops green food coloring (optional) โ€“ tints coconut for vibrant look

Instructions

1-First Step: Crush the Oreos Place one 15.5-oz package Oreos in a food processor. Pulse until fine crumbs form, like soil. Reserve 1/4 cup crumbs for topping.

2-Second Step: Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture Beat 8 oz softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup softened butter, and 1 cup powdered sugar. Use a mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until creamy and lump-free.

3-Third Step: Make the Pudding Filling Whisk 2 boxes (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix with 3 cups cold milk. Beat for 2 minutes until thickened. Gently fold in 12 oz thawed whipped topping and the cream cheese mix. Stir until smooth but do not overmix to keep it light.

4-Fourth Step: Assemble the Layers Choose a 9-inch clean flower pot, trifle dish, or bowl. Layer 1/3 of Oreo crumbs on bottom. Spread half the filling over crumbs. Repeat: crumbs, remaining filling, top with last crumbs. Press lightly for even layers.

5-Fifth Step: Add Gummy Worms and Decorations Bury half a package of gummy worms halfway into top crumb layer. Push gently so they peek out. Sprinkle reserved crumbs around. Add green-tinted coconut, pastel candies, Peeps, or M&Ms for Easter touch.

6-Final Step: Chill and Serve Refrigerate at least 1 hour, ideally overnight. Serve with spoons or plastic shovel for fun. For kids, portion into cups.
