πŸ₯— Green Bean Casserole combines tender green beans with a creamy mushroom sauce for a comforting and classic side dish.
πŸ§… Topped with crispy fried onions, it adds a delightful crunch perfect for festive meals like Thanksgiving or everyday dinners.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups frozen cut green beans (or 2 cans of cut green beans, drained, or 1.5 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and simmered for 78 minutes)

1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup (other cream-based soups can be used as alternatives)

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)

1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions, divided

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (optional, to mix into the sauce or sprinkle on top)

Instructions

1-Preheat your oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350Β°F, as this sets the stage for even baking. This method ensures the flavors blend beautifully while keeping things tender and crispy.

2-Prepare your green beans: If using frozen, boil them briefly; for fresh, trim and simmer for 7-8 minutes until tender. This step keeps them crisp yet soft in the final dish.

3-Mix the creamy base: In a large bowl, mix the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, salt, 1 cup of fried onions, and cheese if you’re using it. Stir until smooth to create that creamy base everyone loves.

4-Fold in the green beans: Making sure they’re fully coated. Transfer the mixture to a 2-quart baking dish and spread it out evenly for baking.

5-Bake uncovered: Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until it’s bubbly and hot. After that, stir the casserole, add the remaining 1/2 cup of fried onions on top, and bake for another 10 minutes to get that golden crunch.
