Ingredients
– 2 tsp (7g) dried yeast
– 1 cup (250ml) lukewarm water
– 400g plain flour, plus extra for dusting
– 2 tsp salt
– 3 tbsp olive oil
– 200g shredded pizza cheese
– 150g finely diced ham
– โ cup (80g) drained canned pineapple chunks, finely diced
– 1 tbsp pizza sauce
Instructions
1-Mix the yeast with lukewarm water and let it sit until it becomes bubbly, which takes about 5-10 minutes. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt, then make a well in the center to add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir everything together to form a smooth dough ball, then knead it on a floured surface until it’s elastic.
2-Once kneaded, place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for 30 minutes or until doubled in size. This step is crucial for a fluffy texture that’s worth the wait. After rising, gently knead the dough again to prepare for the next stage.
3-Roll the dough into a 20 cm disc and mix half the cheese with half the ham and pineapple. Spread this filling over the dough, fold it, and knead until combined for even distribution. Cut the dough in half, roll each half into logs, and slice each into 12 pieces, then shape into balls and arrange in a spiral on a lined baking tray.
4-Cover the dough balls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Brush with pizza sauce, add the remaining ham and pineapple, then bake at 200ยฐC (180ยฐC fan-forced) for 15 minutes.
5-After the initial bake, sprinkle the rest of the cheese and bake for 10 more minutes until melted and golden. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving to keep the structure intact. This method ensures every bite is packed with flavor, making your Hawaiian Ham and Pineapple Monkey Bread a standout dish.
