🍍 Hawaiian Roll French Toast Casserole combines the sweet, soft texture of Hawaiian rolls with juicy berries for a comforting and easy breakfast.
πŸ₯˜ Perfect for busy mornings or brunch gatherings, this casserole is simple to prepare and offers a delightful balance of flavors and textures.

  • Total Time: 75 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

– 12 Hawaiian rolls (about 1 package)

– 1 cup blueberries (alternatively raspberries, blackberries, or mixed berries)

– 8 large eggs

– 1 1/3 cups half and half (or 1 cup whole milk plus 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream)

– 1/2 cup white sugar

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– Powdered sugar for dusting

– Maple syrup for serving (optional)

Instructions

1-Preheat and Prep: Heat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease an 11Γ—7 or 12Γ—8 inch baking dish. Use glass, ceramic, or light-colored metal to avoid bottom burning.

2-Cube the Rolls: Cut 12 Hawaiian rolls into 1-inch cubes with a serrated knife. They’re soft, so go gentle.

3-Layer Up: Spread half the cubes in the dish, top with half the 1 cup blueberries. Repeat layers.

4-Mix Custard: Whisk 8 eggs, 1 1/3 cups half and half, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla in a bowl.

5-Soak: Pour over layers, press down so bread absorbs. Let sit 5-10 minutes.

6-Bake Covered: Cover with foil, bake 40 minutes.

7-Uncover and Finish: Remove foil, bake 20-30 more minutes till golden and center jiggly. If browning fast, re-cover.

8-Serve: Dust powdered sugar, add maple syrup. Pairs great with bacon, sausage, or fruit.
