Ingredients

– Β½ cup water

– Β½ cup fresh orange juice from two oranges

– ΒΎ cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar

– 1 (12 oz) bag fresh or frozen cranberries (do not use dried)

– Zest of one orange, about 2 teaspoons

– Pinch of salt

Instructions

1-Zest one orange carefully, avoiding the white pith, to get about 2 teaspoons of zest for that extra zing.

2-Squeeze fresh juice from two oranges to measure out Β½ cup, ensuring it’s as fresh as possible for the best taste.

3-In a medium saucepan over high heat, combine Β½ cup water, the fresh orange juice, and ΒΎ cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, then bring it to a boil.

4-Add the 1 (12 oz) bag of fresh or frozen cranberries, the orange zest, and a pinch of salt; return the mixture to a boil.

5-Reduce the heat to medium and boil gently for 10 to 12 minutes, until most cranberries burst open; mash them slightly if you prefer a smoother texture.

6-Transfer the sauce to a bowl, cover it, and chill until you’re ready to serve for the best flavor.
