  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 to 8 servings

Ingredients

– 2 ยฝ cups all-purpose flour

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 teaspoon baking soda

– ยฝ teaspoon salt

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1 cup brown sugar

– ยฝ cup unsalted butter

– 1 whole egg

– 2 large egg yolks

– 3 teaspoons vanilla extract

– 10 ounces chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)

– Flaked salt for topping

Instructions

1- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2- In a bowl, whisk together the 2 ยฝ cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ยฝ teaspoon salt.

3- Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet (preferably cast iron) over low heat for 5 minutes. Add the ยฝ cup unsalted butter and let it melt completely.

4- Stir in the 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup brown sugar with a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat or remove the skillet from the burner.

5- Whisk the 1 whole egg and 2 large egg yolks in a separate bowl, then add immediately to the skillet sugar mixture. Stir quickly with a spoon to prevent the eggs from cooking. Mix in the 3 teaspoons vanilla extract.

6- Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined; the mixture will be thick.

7- Stir in the 10 ounces chocolate chips.

8- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center.

9- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with flaked salt.

10- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
